Yoga Breathing to Rejuvenate the Mind, Body and Spirit - Analia Kerner
(source: www.ezinearticles.com)

Breath sustains life. While it's possible to go without food and water for a short period of time, you simply can't survive without air. And while breath is an essential life-sustaining element, the benefits reach even beyond the continuance of life. When you learn about yoga breathing, the mental, physical and spiritual aspects of living are enhanced in ways you never thought possible.

In the practice of yoga, breathing is the bridge that connects the mind, body, and spirit. To experience the full benefits, it's important to learn about yoga breathing and master the techniques with as much dedication as given to the yoga asanas, or poses.

Breathing Is Powerful

It connects and expands the senses, rejuvenating the body and soul. The diaphragm, the muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen, plays a crucial role in the physical benefits you derive from yoga.

In a relaxed state the diaphragm pushes air upwards from the lungs. As it contracts, it presses into the abdomen and digestive organs. With all the discomforts and stresses in everyday life, we often breathe only from the upper part of our lungs. This type of breathing severely restricts the lung's ability to function properly - it can no longer gather fresh, renewing oxygen and expel carbon dioxide at peak efficiency.

When this happens, our bodies pay the price. We tire easily, we lack energy, a mental fog descends, and we find our moods shifting towards negativity. However, when you learn about yoga breathing, you'll find just a few cleansing, deep breaths from the diaphragm will dramatically change all of that. Oxygen floods the body and energizes circulation. As the diaphragm contracts downward, our cells are better able to receive essential nutrients while toxins are released.

Proper breathing also aids digestion and bowel movements as food and waste moves more freely through the digestive tract. The meditative state associated with yoga breathing unites and mental and physical states.

Living In The Moment

With each breath, we become aware of being fully present in "the now". As our breathing becomes more focused, a connection to the spiritual begins. When the mental and physical combine we are able to observe and simply "let be" without passing judgment. The trivial things that once seemed so significant lose their relevance. Rather than longing for our desires, we feel content. Pressures dissipates and acceptance flows.

Our dreams, needs, and goals are fully within our reach. With every breath, prana, the vital life force, is brought in. If performed properly, yoga breathing allows the life energy to flood our body, which in the process, enhances our our connection and perceptions while improving our physical state.

Recharge Yourself - Dwight Anthony
(source: www.ezinearticles.com)

The best way to become as productive as possible is to actually recharge yourself often. Think about it, if you used one of your electronics and you didn't recharge the batteries every time it needed it, would you expect that electronic equipment to power up? Of course not. However, many do this daily. They run around like crazy getting this done and getting that done and before they know it they are drained. That's why those that constantly recharge their vigor are a lot more productive, ecstatic and hopeful in their lives.

Learn to Relax and Wind Down
One of the biggest issues with people becoming drained and burnt out has to do with not being able to turn themselves off and put themselves in a relaxing state. You should have no distractions around you as well. Better to use this time meditating on what you want to accomplish in the near future than become entrapped with distractions all around you.

Use the Power of Music
Nothing will get you in a recharging state faster than say some of your most soothing music. Again, this should be something of a soothing yet inspiring nature. Not a good idea to be playing Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit" or similar. Play music with a purpose to get you in the right state of mind. Good choices are meditation music, soothing music without lyrics, classical music, light jazz and the list goes on.

Get Adequate Sleep
One of the best ways of recharging Body and Mind is to definitely get at least 8 - 8.5 Hrs. of sleep per night. I know some people are already saying that they are lucky to get 6 hours of sleep. You need to start making this a priority. Cut out an extra hour or two of TV at night, put the kids to bed earlier, go to sleep earlier. There's always a way of improvement to get better sleep if you look hard enough.

Discipline your Mind
It is important that while you are in this state of recharging that you also program your mind for positive thought while you are actually relaxed. Use this time to program positive affirmations deep in your subconscious so that it can be recalled later. A good example would be saying "My Mind is a magnet for knowledge" and other related affirmations.

Work on recharging yourself daily and you will be amazed at how much more energy and enthusiasm you have in your life. You will face the day with vigor and know that you can handle any task that comes your way. Recharge or become a drained battery, it really is as simple as that.

The Importance of Life Balance - Sanjana Antony
(source: www.ezinearticles.com)

There are many aspects in life that you have to keep balanced in order to achieve total or overall health, security, and happiness. You need to improve each and every aspect to give your self a chance for growth and development. It is not very easy to achieve a balanced life but with enough determination and knowledge about how to do it, it is not impossible.

One of the most important area or aspect of a person's life is the body. You have to make sure that you will keep your body healthy and strong to be able to do and perform all of your duties and responsibilities. Eat a proper diet and keep your body fit by doing regular exercise or going to the gym. Aside from keeping the body healthy, these could also make you look more attractive. Feeling and looking beautiful will also contribute to the personal aspect of your life.

The personal aspect includes your emotions, feelings, and the way you think about certain things. It is advisable to always maintain a positive outlook in life. Your mind is a very powerful organ as it could control your feelings and emotions. Don't let negative feelings such as insecurity, self pity, sadness, and disappointment get the best of you. Thinking positive and being optimistic will do wonders. They will also help you achieve contentment in life that will eventually turn into happiness.

There are other aspects of life that also contribute to a person's total happiness and one of these is the financial aspect. Though it is true that money and material things should not be the focus of your attention, the fact still remains that this is very important in order for a person to survive in this world. Save money by keeping a part of your regular income or invest in something that could really return your investments. This will help give you a sense of security, peace of mind, and will prevent any financial troubles in the future.

Although your present job could give you a steady source of income, it doesn't mean that it's the perfect job for you. It is also important that you like what you are doing because this will lessen or reduce the stress level that you get and will give you the motivation to improve your work performance. If you want to expand your knowledge, skills, and abilities, you could take additional education or personality development program which is another aspect of life and life is a continuous learning process.

You should also have some time to improve your social life. Go out with your friends or spend some quality time with your family. This will somehow give you the feeling that you are being loved and that there are lost of people who love you and will always be there to support you. The spiritual aspect of your life is also important especially if you feel that you need some guidance or enlightenment during tough and hard situations.

After a long time of hard work, it is advisable to take a break and reward your self with something that could make you relax and relieve you from stress, tension, and pressure from work. You can try out new sports or start a new hobby that will match your interests. It could be any kind of fun activities that you can do by yourself or with friends and family. A balanced life can do many great things that will make you completely healthy and happy.

The Mystery of the Power of the Mind - Greg Frost
(source: www.ezinearticles.com)

Have you wondered about the mess of muscles and nerves under your head? Well, your brain, and consequently your mind, is part of you that has been there for as long as you can remember. But have you ever thought about what the mind is all about, how much of it you really are using on a daily basis, and just how much power the mind has.

Well the answer to all these questions is that we have no idea how much power the mind has, and just how much we are using. We are all being surrounded by a host of hypothesis and assumptions form the scientific community who are making as much guesses as they can on the mind. For one thing, we know for sure that we are not fully using the power of the mind, because there is about 70% of inert energy ion the brain that is not being used.

What this means is that there is plenty of mystery surrounding the brain. For one thing, we know that the brain operates in waves, and these waves are all part and parcel of how the brain communicates with each other and the other parts of the body. And there is a layer within the mind that communicates with the experiential functions of the body. The waves within the brain are called brainwaves, and they are actually produced by the activity of the neurons. The billions of neurons in the brain exert electromagnetic pulses all through the day. What science has discovered is that we are able to entrain these brainwaves to our control because with each range of these brainwaves, the brain seems to exist in a super state.

When we say super state, what we really mean is that the brain gets molded into a sort of state where its primary functions or some of them, are then enhanced for a time being. We can do this through the power of binaural beats, or the power of engineered audio that has been specifically designed for this function. We can actually measure this in accordance to the measurable brainwaves that are being produced and function wise, we are talking about enhanced mental focus, mental agility, mental acuity and even the propensity to learn much faster and much more effective than previously thought possible.

You might want to read a little more on the power of the mind and brainwaves and how the technology surrounding it can actually improve and enhance your life. Imagine if you will, the possibility that you can have an edge over everyone else in the respect that you are able to perform on demand. This is the little bit that the brain has decided to reveal to us and research in this topic and subject is ongoing. More and more may be revealed to us, but that is up to time and determination to reveal to us eventually. In the end of the day, we know that the mind is the next step in human evolution.

Problems? Releasing Your Thoughts - Jan Tincher
(source: www.ezinearticles.com)

Releasing thoughts that hold you back is a powerful step toward taking control of your life.

Thoughts usually come from the three basic needs people feel. The need to feel in control, the need to feel acceptance, and the need to feel security. Every thought or feeling you have can be traced to those three needs.

Maybe you don't like the way work is going. The thoughts you have about it are based on your feelings. Many times we feel all three in the work place: The need to feel in control, the need to feel acceptance, and the need to feel security. If you can just release the NEED to feel in control, to feel acceptance, or to feel security, you will feel your mind lighten up so that you can handle what needs to be done. If you hold on to the NEED, you are way too tight to do the good you could do.

When you feel angry about something, break it down to what your "need" is. Is it the need to feel in control, to feel acceptance, or to feel security? Just breaking it down is an immense help. Once you've done that, just release the need(s) and see how much better you feel.

If you find you are always eating or smoking, every time you put something in your mouth, analyze your need, then release it in your mind. In fact, if you release before, during, and after you put something in your mouth, you will be doing an even more thorough job of freeing yourself so that you don't feel that need to do it later.

If you get nervous over something, break it down to the need related to it and release that need.

If you find yourself yelling at the children or your spouse, release the need before you yell, as you are yelling, and after you yell. YES! That can be done. Your mind can work miracles while your tongue or body is reacting in an old familiar pattern.

Every time you feel stress, you can break it down to one or more of your needs. Release it.

It's a lot like clearing the cache in your computer. When you do that, you free the computer so that it can work better and faster. That is also what you are doing with your brain.

Release, and watch your life turn around. Feel how much freer and more relaxed you are after you release.

A Simple Solution to Handle Your Emotions - Madhu KS
(source: www.ezinearticles.com)

This is recession time all over and I'm not alone when I feel sad, hopeful, angry, confused, excited, optimistic and anxious.

Here is a nice model to handle your emotions proposed by Dr Elizabeth Kubler Ross. This is based on the proposition that when a person experiences significant change there are five stages to go through to come to terms with it. Recognizing the stage of emotion that you are in currently will help you handle the change better.

1. Denial - this is when you try to convince yourself that recession has been hyped beyond limits and believe that it will not affect you as an individual.

2. Anger - this is when you look to lay blame on everything from the banks to human greed. You even blame myself for not seeing it coming and being prepared with an alternate course of action.

3. Bargaining - this is when you decide to make a deal. You give up aspirations to cope with the change and promise yourself to work harder if new opportunities are revealed.

4. Depression - this is a stage where you give up completely feeling that a one man army cannot struggle against the odds of a problem so big. You accept defeat and give in.

5. Acceptance - this is when you start thinking "I am where I am". What has happened cannot be changed but you can decide what you're going to do.

There is always a progression and fall back to and from one stage to another. However, the natural end-point is acceptance. The question is how long it takes you to get there. The sooner you do, the sooner you will be empowered and proactive in creating your own way forward.

Recognizing where you are within the five stages is the start of moving forward and coming to a healthy and creative relationship with the change around you.
